I think there should be a way to add attachments to a forum post. Right now people have to host their files on different servers, and the problem with that is if later on people want to download these files, they could be down/deleted.

But if files are instead an attachment to the forum post, it would mean that they would last a lot longer; as long as the forum is up, the downloads are up.
